The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids is proud to offer kids, teens, teachers, and parents a safe place to visit on the Internet. We have developed our privacy policy in accord with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998. This privacy policy outlines the steps we have taken to protect the privacy of all our Web site visitors and to address your concerns about the information you and your children give us.

Kids and Teens: Be sure to ask your parents or teachers for permission before you send ANY information to the Web site.

Teachers and Parents: We recommend that you spend time with your kids or teens while they are online. Have them show you what they do when they visit the Web site.

We respect the privacy of children, and do not collect any more personal information than reasonably necessary to enable them to participate in the activities we offer at our Web site.

We collect the following information directly from children online: zip code and e-mail address (if they choose to contact us). Zip codes are stored in a cookie (see Cookies below).

Please note that parents may consent to the above collection and use, without necessarily consenting to the disclosure of personal information to third parties. However, The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids and its Web site does not release or sell personally identifiable information to any third party for any purpose whatsoever.

We do not have any agreements with outside organizations to collect personal information at our site.

Some features on the Web site invite kids (younger than 13) and teens (13 and older) to send written work to us with the possibility of their seeing it posted online on the Web site or in The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids book.

The "TELL US" feature invites kids and teens to e-mail comments and suggestions to The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids Web site editors.

We ask kids to include their first and last name and e-mail address along with their comments or suggestions. We collect this information so that we may post some of the feedback online or in The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids book and credit the kids. We take out, delete, and do not post any personal information your child submits, including their last name and e-mail address.

Parents have the right to review and delete their children's personal information and to refuse to permit further collection of that information. To do so, please contact us here.

Parents: If you wish to cancel your child's content contribution to an online feature, please contact us. Please include your child's first name, along with the name of the Web site feature, in the body of the e-mail, so that we know which feature contribution to delete. Upon receiving a delete request, we will delete your child's content from the Web site and then delete your e-mail from our computer system.

If a user wishes to be added to The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids book mailing list, we ask for contact information such as e-mail address. At the time of sign up, underage users are required to enter a parent's or guardian's e-mail address. The parent or guardian is then sent an informational message stating that the underage user has signed up for our mailing list. The message also contains information on how to unsubscribe to the list.

Parents have the right to review and have their child's name and e-mail address deleted from the mailing list and to refuse to permit further collection of such information. To do so, please contact us here.
